Along Came a Spider

Spidey

This is Spidey, she lives outside our kitchen window. We have watched her all summer, which has been kind of cool because we can get really close but there’s this pain of glass in between, you know? Well, contrary to what I learned in Charlotte’s Web, these ladies do not die after laying their eggs. Oh no. Spidey is on her fourth egg sac just now, if her increasing girth is anything to judge by…and it is, because the increasing girth has been followed by an egg sac three out of three times so far.

We are going to have MILLIONS of spiders at some point. See the big blurry thing in the center? It’s the size of a grape. I was focusing on the cool basket she made to hold the egg sac to the window.

As nice as it’s been watching this ongoing spider egg-laying saga all summer, I think an egg-relocation project is in order.
