Happy Birthday Thunder (Randall, too, wherever you are!)

One year ago today you were born. In the flower bed. We were putting mama in the Trailblazer to head for the Emergency Vet after 2 hours of non-productive labor. Needless to say, we were very happy to see you.
You looked kind of like a miniature flying cow, if there were such a thing. You were cute and you smelled like an angel and you were very, very soft. Martina named you for the lighting zig zag on your neck. She said it looked like a Thunderbolt.
But then we went off to Egypt before you got your last set of puppy shots and you almost died of Parvo. It was rampant last summer. Our neighbors lost dogs, our friends lost dogs but Mike, your stand-in dad, saved you. We only owed him $3500 in vet bills when we came home, poorer than church mice after our all-expenses paid vacation.
Oddly enough, though Mike could not get in contact with us, Martina knew you were ill. Her stomach hurt and she cried for you every night and prayed for your safety and well being. I think someone heard her…

Because she came home to this. Puppy hugs, fur balls and a vastly improved, Parvo inoculated forever, loyal, loving companion.
I just want to say it one more time, We love you. You are among the greats of dogdom, Thunder. The best puppy a girl could ever have is one year old today and you are already leaving very large pawprints.
