Asheville, Wilson, Turkey Creek

Parents weekend at Wilson was Oct 1-4. Eli needed us to represent so we did, in a lame sort of way. Basically we showed up, walked around the (beautiful) campus, met her boss, roomies, coworkers and left, taking several students with us.

We hauled the horses up with us because: Martina is ready to trail ride; Wind, the pony, is ready to trail ride; Payday had a great vet check and is ready to trail ride; ditto for Mark, Misty his horse and me; AND we found a great place to stay, Turkey Creek Cabins.
The weather was beautiful and getting back onto the trails was amazing. I have missed riding in the mountains far more than I realized. We didn’t do any long rides, the horses aren’t in shape and Turkey Creek doesn’t have any long trails. They are close to several great trail heads if you don’t mind hauling out each morning. The cabin was great. It’s a one bedroom and we had 7 people and 2 dogs stuffed in there and it was still comfy enough. We cooked and ate, and drank a little too much. The owners of the place came to supper and treated us all to ‘smores and a huge bonfire. Martina and I howled at the moon with Jasmine and Thunder accompanying.
I got some time with Eli and we saw a baby bear on the way home. All-in-all a great trip.
