Brand New Blues

PhotobucketLast night we went to see Cyril Neville play at the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts. Mark and I love music and have wide-ranging tastes in music but we had no idea what we were going to see when a friend invited us to the show. We had our exit-strategy in place when we sat down.

Then show started and damn! we were rooted to our seats. Or, more realistically, we were dancing in them. Heck, we even got up and slow danced in the aisle. What a great show. I have always loved ‘roots’ music, no matter the type. I listen to blues, bluegrass, dixie land, that kind of stuff and love it far more than top-40 anything. Cyril plays a cool blend of blues, reggae and roots with a whole lot of New Orleans junk tossed in for flavah.
We’re adding Cyril’s newest album, Brand New Blues to our collection. If you get a chance to catch him at show, he is worth the price of ticket and the $20 for his new album, too.
