Why Does the Fog Smell Like Smoke?

Well, it’s not fog.
There are 1,000 acres of swamp on fire somewhere in Gates County and I have no idea where, exactly, the fires are located. They are in the same county as our home, our sheep and horses, but no news crew seems to think that telling us what part of the county the fires are in is important. Everything outside is yellowish. From what I hear, it’s sunny day. I have no idea because for us, it’s s smoky day. Yellow and smoky.
We’re supposed to go to the beach but I feel a bit odd about leaving all of my animals here to breathe. If the farm doesn’t catch fire, they’ll all die of smoke inhalation. Ugh.
I’ve been outside for the last hour or so. There is ash falling and more and more smoke building. It’s like hot snow. We are not going to the beach. According to Mark, the fire is about 3 miles NE of us now and the wind is blowing in our direction, hence the smoke. I can even feel heat…maybe that’s my imagination but if it is, Travis has the same imaginatory life as I do.
